Singapore Night Safari
The Night Safari covers 40 hectares and is divided into East and West Loops. There are about 1,000 animals from 100 species living in this wide safari surrounded by Upper Seletar Reservoir. Animals here are ninety percent awake at night. During the day, almost all of wildlife would sleep or appear extremely sleepy. As a result, you can go watching them at night and see what do they do for routine activities. The Safari comprises of the walking trails section and the tram ride. Much of the displays do not overlap so both a walk and a tram ride is required to complete the park. Trails display mainly small animals. There are 3 of them. The first is the Fishing Cat Trail housing the fishing cats and other Asian animals like barking deer and Indian crocodiles. The next is the Leopard Trail, housing leopards, the slow loris, tarsiers, owls and the Ranger Station with its static displays. A highlight on this trail is the Mangrove Walk. You enter this netted area that is very dark and make your way around on a boardwalk. Huge flying fox fruit bats, about a foot long, the largest bats in the world, will hang from branches right above the boardwalk.

Then there are the smaller fruit bats that swoop all over, flying just above your head. Scary at times but once you get used to it, you become more enthralled than frightened. The most undeveloped trail is the Forest Giants Trail, a walk through a lush primary rainforest.
